Louis XV (1715-1775) Style Hallway Stand With Marquetry and Brown Marble Top
A tall and narrow antique French Louis XV-style elegant chest of drawers which is beautifully decorated with fine marquetry on the façade and chevron-style rosewood all over. The ornate brass key opens the main drop down door to reveal a little writing desk with multiple storage drawers. It also opens the bow fronted four drawers through their original working locks. Well polished, with dark ormulu, sculpted apron and sabot feet, it is topped with a slim brown Rosso Levanto marble from Turkey that is shaped and finely edged.
A perfect piece for an entrance hall, a tight space or as a pedestal for that favourite vase or lamp. The warm colours make it easy to marry it to a traditional or modern interior. The previous owner was using it in the entrance hall of her modern terraced house on the hillsides overlooking the City of Antibes on the French Riviera.
