Louis-Philippe (1830-1848) Style Armchair - Green "Gaufré" Velvet Upholstery
SOLD - A "Chauffeuse" or fireside armchair: the name is derived from the French word "Chauffer", which means to heat or to warm.
It is designed as a low seating chair to allow you to put your feet up on a footrest close to the fireplace.
This beautiful example is made of solid acajou (mahogany) wood and is covered with a "Gaufré" (embossed) deep green velvet with a delicate flower pattern.
It stands on caster wheels at the front and square legs at the back. Please note that one of the back legs has been repaired using a rivet and bolt. The repair is solid and discreet enough. If this is of concern, a joiner could repair the leg in a more traditional way.
