SOLD - French Settee - 1 Canapé & 2 Bergères - Upholstered in Toile de Jouy
SOLD - A beautiful Louis XV style (1715-1775) settee: two tub bergères and a canapé, exquisitely carved from solid French walnut wood. It is upholstered in iconic Toile de Jouy (from Jouy-en-Josas, near Paris), with deep red pastoral scenes over an off-white background.
It stands on well-shaped cabriole legs ending in whorl feet. All the intricate carvings further enhance the opulence of this piece. Circa late 1800s-early 1900s, Belle Epoque era, it was purchased in Provence in the City of Carpentras.
It looks stunning in a bedroom with the canapé at the bed end and the bergères arranged in two corners.
